Wimbledon champion Linda Noskova will lead the Czech Republic’s challenge at this year’s Billie Jean King Cup Finals, while hosts China will rely on Olympic champion Zheng Qinwen to spearhead their campaign.
Noskova will be joined by Wimbledon runner-up Karolina Muchova as the Czech Republic faces Britain in the quarter-finals of the premier women’s team competition.
Defending champions Italy will begin their title defence against hosts China, with world number 15 Jasmine Paolini leading an experienced squad that also includes Elisabetta Cocciaretto, Lucia Bronzetti, Sara Errani and Tyra Grant.
China’s team features reigning Olympic gold medallist Zheng Qinwen alongside Wang Xiyu, Zhang Shuai, Guo Hanyu and Jiang Xinyu.
Twice Grand Slam champion Elena Rybakina will lead Kazakhstan in their quarter-final against Spain, while Ukraine, spearheaded by Elina Svitolina and Marta Kostyuk, will take on Belgium.
Each tie will consist of two singles matches followed by a doubles match, with all matches played as the best of three tiebreak sets.
The Billie Jean King Cup Finals will take place at the Shenzhen Bay Sports Centre from Sept. 22-27.
