Barcelona, Spain : UEFA has dismissed a complaint from FC Barcelona regarding refereeing decisions in their 2-0 loss to Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg.
The controversy centered on a potential penalty incident involving Atletico goalkeeper Juan Musso and defender Marc Pubill, where Barcelona believed a handball offense had occurred inside the box. However, referee Istvan Kovacs allowed play to continue, and VAR did not intervene.
Barcelona filed an official protest, but UEFA’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body ruled it inadmissible, effectively closing the case.
The two sides are set to meet again in the second leg, where Barcelona will look to overturn the deficit on the pitch after failing to gain relief off it.
