AMMAN : Qatar’s women’s volleyball team finished fourth at the third West Asian Volleyball Championship after losing 3-0 to defending champions Lebanon in their final match in Amman.
Lebanon secured their third consecutive victory with a 26-6, 25-18, 25-19 win to finish top of the standings and retain the title.
Hosts Jordan finished runners-up after beating Iraq 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-21), while Iraq took third place and Qatar ended the four-team competition in fourth.
Qatar, Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq competed in a round-robin format, with Qatar unable to register a win during the tournament.
Qatar began their campaign with a 3-0 defeat by Jordan, losing 25-12, 25-23, 25-16, before suffering another straight-sets loss to Iraq, 25-13, 25-18, 25-21.
Lebanon maintained their strong record throughout the championship, completing the tournament unbeaten to successfully defend their title.
Qatar will now turn their attention to upcoming international commitments as they continue preparations and development of their women’s volleyball programme.
