Doha: The Qatar Chess Federation has signed a cooperation and partnership agreement with the Egyptian Chess Federation on the sidelines of the ongoing Chess Olympiad and FIDE General Assembly in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. The agreement aims to strengthen Arab cooperation and promote the exchange of expertise and experience between the two federations.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Mr. Mohammed Al-Mudahka, President of the Qatar Chess Federation; Major General Mokhtar Emara, President of the Egyptian Chess Federation; and Mr. George Samir, Vice President of the Egyptian Chess Federation.
Representing the Qatar Chess Federation, the agreement was signed by Mr. Hamad Al-Tamimi, Executive Director, while Dr. Karim Wagih, General Supervisor of the Committees at the Egyptian Chess Federation, signed on behalf of the Egyptian federation.
The agreement covers several areas of joint cooperation, including training and professional development, officiating, the organisation and hosting of international tournaments, the exchange of expertise and experiences, and the organisation of joint championships and events. It also includes cooperation in school chess and promoting the game among future generations.
The signing of the agreement reflects the Qatar and Egyptian chess federations’ commitment to strengthening sporting and chess relations between the two countries, developing technical and administrative expertise, and expanding Arab and international cooperation in the sport of chess.
