Pakistan : Pace bowler Naseem Shah has been fined 20 million Pakistani rupees (about $71,684) by the Pakistan Cricket Board for violating multiple clauses of his central contract and the board’s social media guidelines.
The penalty followed a now-deleted post from Shah’s account that appeared to criticise Maryam Nawaz, the Chief Minister of Punjab.
The PCB issued a show-cause notice before handing down what local media reports have described as the largest financial sanction in Pakistan cricket history — roughly equivalent to eight months of Shah’s central contract salary.
According to the board, Shah offered an “unconditional apology” during disciplinary proceedings.
“It was noted that Naseem Shah’s social media adviser has already been terminated by Naseem and shall be blacklisted by the PCB from associating with any player under its jurisdiction,” the board added.
