Lausanne (Switzerland) : The 2026 Artistic Gymnastics Apparatus World Cup in Doha has been cancelled after delays in the arrival of specialised apparatus and equipment made it impossible to stage the event as planned, the Qatar Gymnastics Federation said on Friday.
The competition had been scheduled to take place in Qatar from April 15-18.
Ali Al Hitmi, president of the Qatar Gymnastics Federation and first vice-president of World Gymnastics, said the federation had submitted an official request to postpone the event to ensure it could be delivered in line with international organisational standards.
However, World Gymnastics decided against rescheduling after reviewing the impact on the wider calendar, including continental championships in Africa, Europe and Asia, as well as the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in the Netherlands later this year.
Al Hitmi said the decision was taken to preserve the integrity of the international calendar and ensure equal opportunities for all participating national federations.
He added that the Qatari federation remained committed to hosting major international events to the highest organisational standards.
