Zurich, Switzerland : The Diamond League has announced an increase in top-tier prize money for select events in 2026, while keeping the overall prize pool at $9.24 million.

Under the new format, each meeting will feature eight “Diamond+” disciplines — double the previous number — giving more athletes the chance to compete for higher rewards. These events will include a balanced mix of sprints or hurdles, middle- and long-distance races, field events, and other disciplines, with equal representation for men and women.

Athletes competing in Diamond+ events can earn up to $20,000 per meeting and up to $60,000 at the Final — the highest individual payouts in the series’ history. Standard event prize money will remain unchanged, with winners earning up to $10,000 per meeting and $30,000 at the Final.

Organisers said the revamped structure is designed to expand earning opportunities across a wider range of disciplines while ensuring gender equality.

The 2026 season will begin on May 16 in Shanghai/Keqiao and conclude with the Final in Brussels on September 4–5.
