Biel, Switzerland: Belgium produced a major upset by eliminating 18-time champions United States to qualify for the Billie Jean King Cup Finals.
In Ostend, Greet Minnen sealed the victory with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Iva Jovic, sending Belgium to the Finals for the first time since 2022.
Elsewhere, Great Britain advanced with a 3-1 win over Australia in Melbourne. Harriet Dart and Jodie Burrage clinched the tie in doubles, defeating Storm Hunter and Ellen Perez.
Defending champions Italy also progressed after Jasmine Paolini and Sara Errani secured a decisive doubles win over Japan.
Ukraine dominated Poland 4-0, with sisters Lyudmyla Kichenok and Nadiia Kichenok helping seal qualification.
Spain, Kazakhstan and Czech Republic also booked their spots. Kazakhstan advanced after Yulia Putintseva edged Bianca Andreescu in a marathon match, while the Czech Republic clinched a 3-2 win over Switzerland thanks to Marie Bouzkova.
The Finals will take place in Shenzhen from September 22–27, where the qualified teams will compete alongside hosts China.
