Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha and Norway striker Erling Haaland were named in the fan-voted FIFA World Cup Dream Team after standout performances helped their nations enjoy memorable campaigns at the tournament.
Vozinha received 39.6% of the votes to earn the goalkeeper’s spot, edging out Spain’s Unai Simon, who won the Golden Glove award selected by FIFA’s technical study group.
The 40-year-old, who entered the tournament without a club after leaving Portuguese second-tier side Chaves, was instrumental in World Cup debutants Cape Verde’s impressive run. He made seven saves in a goalless draw against eventual champions Spain and helped force eventual runners-up Argentina into extra time in the round of 32.
Haaland secured 27.5% of the votes among forwards after spearheading Norway’s run to their first-ever World Cup quarter-finals.
The Manchester City striker scored seven goals in five matches, including a brace in Norway’s 2-1 round-of-16 victory over five-time champions Brazil before their campaign ended with defeat by England in the quarter-finals.
The pair were joined in the fan-selected lineup by high-profile names including Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham.
