HOUSTON: Tommy Paul came within inches of defeat on Sunday in Houston but showed remarkable resilience to turn the match around.
The American saved three championship points before defeating Roman Andres Burruchaga 6–1, 3–6, 7–5 in the final of the U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championship. The victory secured Paul’s fifth ATP Tour title and his first on clay.
During the trophy ceremony, Paul praised his opponent’s performance, saying: “Roman, it was an amazing week. Today’s level was seriously great—great level. You’re playing amazing tennis, and it is only going to get better.”
Paul’s hard-fought win highlighted his determination, overcoming the brink of defeat to capture a memorable title.
