BUDAPEST : Qatar’s Abderrahman Samba and Bassem Hemeida will compete in the men’s 400 metres hurdles at the World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest from Sept. 11-13, the Qatar Athletics Federation said.
Samba will enter Saturday’s race with a season-best time of 47.77 seconds, set in the Diamond League, while Hemeida has clocked 47.56 seconds in Switzerland this season.
The Budapest event will serve as a final competitive test for the Qatari pair ahead of next week’s 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
Both athletes are also set to compete in Qatar’s 4x400m relay team at the Asian Games alongside Ammar Ibrahim and Ashraf Hussen.
The Ultimate Championship provides Samba and Hemeida with an opportunity to sharpen their preparations before turning their attention to the Asian Games, where Qatar will compete across athletics and other sports.
