DOHA — The third round of the 2026 West Asian Beach Volleyball Tournament for men and women began in Qatar on Monday, with 15 teams from five countries competing at the Al Gharafa Beach courts.
The tournament, running from Oct. 5 to 8, features teams from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait and Lebanon.
In the men’s competition, Qatar 2, represented by Saif Al-Din Al-Majid and Mahmoud Essam, beat Saudi Arabia’s Wafi Al-Jasser and Ali Al-Awami 2-0, winning 21-11 and 21-15.
Lebanon 1, represented by Hadi Al-Shabib and Jad Abi Karam, also defeated the Saudi pair 2-0, winning 21-8 and 21-17.
Bahrain 1, consisting of Khaled Abdullah and Ali Yaqoub, beat Qatar 1’s Musa Al-Khair and Mohammed Ehab 2-1 before defeating Kuwait’s Barak Khosrow and Ibrahim Ahmed 2-0.
In the women’s competition, Lebanon 1’s Mirvat Hamza and Nour Hamza beat Kuwait’s Alaa Al-Bahwa and Halima Rashid 2-0.
Qatar 4’s Aisha Al-Alawi and Nelly Amr lost 2-0 to Lebanon 2’s Mirna Cheikho and Lara Al-Nahi, while Qatar 3’s Malak Hashem and Shaghaf Ismail were beaten 2-1 by Bahrain’s Munira Suleiman and Fatima Al-Bouzaid.
Qatar 1’s Haya Abu Issa and Laila Mohammed beat fellow Qatar pair Lamis Al-Salman and Dana Abu Aita 2-0 before losing 2-0 to Lebanon 1.
The opening round of matches produced mixed results for the Qatari teams, with the tournament continuing at Al Gharafa through Oct. 8.
