MUSCAT : Defending champions Qatar settled for the silver medal at the second West Asia Volleyball Championship after losing 3-0 to hosts Oman in Tuesday’s final.
Oman claimed the title with a straight-sets victory, winning 25-19, 25-15, 25-23 in Muscat.
Qatar, who won the inaugural edition in Bahrain last year, reached the final after topping Group A and defeating Iraq in the semi-finals.
Despite the defeat, three Qatar players received individual honours at the tournament.
Mohammed Al Waleed was named Best Outside Hitter, Abdullah Naseem earned the Best Middle Blocker award, while Mahdi Samoud was recognised as Best Setter.
Iraq finished third to claim the bronze medal, with Kuwait placing fourth. Saudi Arabia finished fifth, followed by Syria in sixth and Lebanon in seventh.
