Qatar finish top of athletics standings at GCC Games Doha 2026

DOHA :  Hosts Qatar finished top of the athletics standings at the GCC Games Doha 2026 after the conclusion of the track and field competitions at Suhaim bin Hamad Stadium on Sunday.

Qatar ended the four-day competition with a tournament-leading 34 medals, including 12 gold, 13 silver and nine bronze medals, sealing first place with another strong showing on the final day.

The hosts added nine medals on Sunday, collecting two golds, four silvers and three bronzes.

Mubarak Saeed won gold in the men’s 1,500 metres, while Qatar also claimed victory in the men’s 4x400m relay.

Silver medals went to Zakaria Ibrahim in the men’s 1,500m, Moaaz Ibrahim in the discus throw, Alaa Abdelmonem in the women’s high jump and the women’s 4x400m relay team.

Dana Salem secured bronze in the women’s 200m sprint, while Salma Ahmed added another bronze in the women’s high jump and Mohammed Mohammed finished third in the men’s discus throw.

Bahrain finished second overall with 23 medals, including 12 golds, eight silvers and three bronzes, while Oman placed third with 11 medals.

Saudi Arabia finished fourth with 14 medals, followed by Kuwait with 16 medals and the United Arab Emirates in sixth place with 15 medals.
