Pakistan have replaced Shan Masood with Babar Azam as test captain ahead of their upcoming series against the West Indies and England, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said on Sunday.
Masood, who succeeded Babar in November 2023, steps down after a difficult spell in charge.
The left-hander captained Pakistan in 16 tests, losing 12. Pressure mounted on Masood after Pakistan suffered a 2-0 home series defeat to Bangladesh in May.
Pakistan begin their test campaign with a two-match series against the West Indies from July 25 to Aug. 6 before touring England for a three-test series from Aug. 19 to Sept. 13.
The squad for the two tours comprises: Babar Azam (captain), Aamir Jamal, Abdullah Fazal, Ali Usman, Azan Awais, Imam-ul-Haq, Khurram Shahzad, Mohammad Abbas, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Rizwan, Muhammad Awais Zafar, Muhammad Ghazi Ghori, Sajid Khan, Salman Ali Agha, Shan Masood, Ubaid Shah and Saud Shakeel, who is included for the England tour subject to fitness clearance.
