ISLAMABAD, Oct 6 (Reuters) – Pakistan have removed Salman Ali Agha as T20 captain and left him out of the squad for this month’s series against Sri Lanka, the Pakistan Cricket Board said on Monday as it announced squads for the T20 series and an ODI tri-series involving Sri Lanka and England.
Sahibzada Farhan has been appointed T20 captain after leading Pakistan to a silver medal at the Asian Games and finishing as the leading run-scorer at the T20 World Cup in March with 383 runs at a strike rate of 160.
Agha remains part of Pakistan’s ODI setup, with Shaheen Shah Afridi retaining the captaincy for the tri-series. Former captain Babar Azam has also been included in the ODI squad.
Pakistan’s three-match T20 series against Sri Lanka begins on Friday in Rawalpindi, while the ODI tri-series gets underway on Oct. 18, with Pakistan facing Sri Lanka in the opening match.
