LAHORE — Former New Zealand Test cricketer and ICC Elite Panel match referee Jeffrey Crowe will lead the playing control team for the seven-match ODI tri-series involving Pakistan, England and Sri Lanka, the Pakistan Cricket Board said.
The tri-series will be played from Oct. 18 to 31 in Rawalpindi and Lahore as part of Pakistan’s home schedule, which also includes a three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka and a two-match World Test Championship series.
Crowe, who made his Test debut as a referee in October 2004 during the Pakistan-Sri Lanka Test in Faisalabad, recently became only the second official to oversee 700 international matches as a referee. He has also completed 350 ODI matches.
Pakistan’s Ahsan Raza and Bangladesh’s Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid, both members of the ICC Elite Panel of Umpires, will officiate alongside International Panel umpires Wayne Knights of New Zealand, Asif Yaqoob, Nasir Hussain, Rashid Riaz Waqar and Faisal Khan Aafreedi.
Knights will partner Asif as an on-field umpire for the opening match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Ahsan will officiate the final two matches, working with Sharfuddoula in Sri Lanka versus England before partnering Knights in the final.
Faisal, Rashid and Nasir will each officiate one match as an on-field umpire, while Asif will stand in two matches.
Sharfuddoula and Knights will alternate as third umpire throughout the tri-series, with Sharfuddoula taking the role in the opening match.
The appointments complete the match-officials panel for the 12 international matches Pakistan are scheduled to host between Oct. 9 and Nov. 21.
