MONZA : Formula One championship leader Lando Norris has co-founded a single-seater racing team aimed at helping young drivers progress through the sport’s feeder series, the British driver said ahead of this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix.
The LN4 Fusion project has acquired assets from AIX Racing and will compete in Italian Formula 4, the Formula Regional European Championship and FIA Formula 3, a support series for Formula One.
The project is also working towards entries in British F4 and Formula 2.
Norris is separately launching a fully funded driver development programme designed to identify and support young talent by removing financial barriers and providing coaching, mentoring and career guidance.
“I’ve been really lucky to have some amazing people around me throughout my career and I know that getting to Formula One takes so much more than just talent,” Norris said.
“You need the right people around you, the right support and the right opportunities at the right time. That’s what these two projects are all about.”
Norris said he wanted to create opportunities for the next generation both on and off the track and make a difference to young drivers entering the sport.
The team will be led by principal Rene Rosin, whose family founded Italian outfit Prema, which helped develop current F1 drivers including Kimi Antonelli, Charles Leclerc and Norris’s McLaren team mate Oscar Piastri.
Former Prema technical director Guillaume Capietto will serve as racing director.
