NEW YORK : American Emma Navarro reached the U.S. Open quarter-finals for the second time with a 6-4 6-2 victory over Russia’s Anna Kalinskaya at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Sunday.
The 26th seed, who reached the semi-finals at Flushing Meadows in 2024, will face compatriot Jessica Pegula in the last eight.
“It feels good to be back on Ashe. It’s been a couple years, and I missed it a ton. I love playing out here,” Navarro said.
The 25-year-old’s run marks her first Grand Slam quarter-final since the Australian Open in 2025, following an extended break from the tour earlier this year for health reasons.
Navarro’s victory capped a strong day for the home crowd, with Americans Ben Shelton, Pegula and Frances Tiafoe also securing wins.
