Seattle, WA, USA : Washington Mystics rookie Cotie McMahon has sustained a partial tear of the ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) in her left elbow and will be re-evaluated in one week, the team said on Thursday.
McMahon, selected 11th overall in last month’s WNBA draft, suffered the injury during Sunday’s 83-72 preseason victory over Atlanta Dream.
The Mystics said the injury would be treated conservatively, with further updates expected next week.
The 6-foot guard averaged 10.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.5 assists across two preseason appearances as Washington prepared for Friday’s regular-season opener against Toronto.
McMahon joined Ole Miss for the 2025-26 season after spending three years at Ohio State University. She averaged 19.5 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 36 starts for Ole Miss.
It marks the second consecutive year a Washington first-round pick has suffered a preseason injury. Georgia Amoore, the sixth overall selection in the 2025 draft, missed the entire season after tearing her right ACL in practice.
