LONDON :  Manchester City F.C. kept the pressure on Premier League leaders Arsenal F.C. with a 3-0 victory over Brentford F.C. on Saturday, while Liverpool F.C. were booed off after a 1-1 draw against Chelsea F.C..

With three matches remaining, City moved to within two points of Arsenal, who travel to face relegation-threatened West Ham United F.C. on Sunday.

After a dramatic 3-3 draw at Everton F.C. earlier in the week, City avoided another costly slip-up thanks to a strong second-half display at the Etihad Stadium.

Jeremy Doku broke the deadlock on the hour mark with a curling effort into the top corner before Erling Haaland backheeled home City’s second to extend his lead in the race for the Premier League Golden Boot.

Haaland later turned provider for Omar Marmoush, who sealed the victory in stoppage time.

City also reduced Arsenal’s superior goal difference advantage to just one.

Arsenal’s remaining fixtures include matches against already-relegated Burnley F.C. and Crystal Palace F.C., either side of the UEFA Conference League final.

City host Palace next before travelling to face an in-form AFC Bournemouth and then welcome Aston Villa F.C. on the final day.

At Anfield, Liverpool edged closer to Champions League qualification but failed to beat Chelsea, who ended a six-match league losing streak.

Ryan Gravenberch put Liverpool ahead early before Enzo Fernandez equalised from a free kick in the 35th minute.

Boos rang out at full-time from sections of the Liverpool support, but manager Arne Slot insisted he could turn things around next season.

“If we can have the summer that we are planning to have, then I’m 100 percent convinced that we will be a different team next season,” Slot said.

Bournemouth boosted their hopes of European qualification with a 1-0 win over Fulham F.C. at Craven Cottage in a match where both sides finished with 10 men.

Ryan Christie and Joachim Andersen were both sent off before Brazilian teenager Rayan scored the winner early in the second half.

Brighton & Hove Albion F.C. climbed to seventh with a 3-0 victory over already-relegated Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C..

Jack Hinshelwood opened the scoring after just 37 seconds, Lewis Dunk added a second and Yankuba Minteh completed the win late on.

Meanwhile, Manchester United F.C. and Sunderland A.F.C. played out a goalless draw after United had already secured Champions League qualification.
