LONDON: Defending champions Liverpool FC secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Everton FC in their Premier League clash on Sunday, part of the 33rd round of fixtures.
Mohamed Salah opened the scoring for Liverpool in the 29th minute, while Virgil van Dijk sealed the win deep into stoppage time with a dramatic goal in the 90+10th minute. Everton’s only goal came through Norberto Beto in the 55th minute.
The win lifts Liverpool to fifth place in the standings with 55 points, while Everton remain in tenth with 47 points.
Elsewhere in the same round, Aston Villa FC edged Sunderland AFC 4-3, and Nottingham Forest FC cruised to a 4-1 victory over Burnley FC.
