ELVERSBERG, Germany — Harry Kane scored in the second half as Bayern Munich beat promoted Elversberg 2-1 on Sunday, ending the hosts’ two-game winning start to the Bundesliga season.
Elversberg, playing their first Bundesliga match against Bayern, took the game to the visitors early and created several chances before Lennart Karl put Bayern ahead in the 26th minute.
Ismael Saibari created the opening with a run down the left before cutting the ball back into the box, where Karl finished at the far post.
Elversberg continued to threaten after falling behind and were rewarded just after the hour when Maurice Krattenmacher curled an effort into the far corner to level the score.
Bayern responded and Michael Olise hit the woodwork in the 70th minute before Kane restored the champions’ lead two minutes later.
Kane’s goal came after the England captain threaded his shot between two defenders and past the Elversberg goalkeeper.
Bayern held on to take three points and move up to fourth in the Bundesliga on seven points, two behind leaders Freiburg and Borussia Dortmund, who have won all three of their matches.
Elversberg remain sixth on six points after suffering their first defeat of the season, having previously beaten Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Moenchengladbach.
