Pakistan batter Shan Masood has been ruled out of the second and final test against West Indies after fracturing a finger during the series opener in Tarouba, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said on Thursday.
Masood scored a first-innings century at the Brian Lara Stadium but suffered a fracture to the index finger of his left hand after being struck by a delivery from West Indies paceman Jayden Seales. The injury forced him to bat at number eight in the second innings as Pakistan slumped to a 90-run defeat.
“Following a scan and clinical assessment, Shan is currently undergoing treatment from the Pakistan team medical panel,” the PCB said in a statement.
The board added that Masood’s availability for the opening test of Pakistan’s three-match series against England, beginning on Aug. 19 at Headingley in Leeds, will depend on his recovery and medical progress.
Pakistan will tour England for three tests before playing a five-match one-day international series.
