INDORE, India — India beat West Indies by 14 runs on Sunday to take a 2-1 lead in the five-match Twenty20 international series.
Chasing 224 for victory, West Indies finished on 209-7 despite a brisk 43 off 26 balls from Shimron Hetmyer. Arshdeep Singh led India’s bowling attack with 3-44, while Naman Dhir and Axar Patel also took key wickets as the visitors struggled to keep pace with the required run rate.
Quentin Sampson and Sherfane Rutherford briefly revived the chase, but West Indies lost wickets regularly in the closing overs and fell short.
India had earlier posted 223 after being asked to bat, recovering from the early dismissal of Sanju Samson, who scored three before falling to Shamar Joseph.
Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan built the innings with a 108-run partnership for the second wicket. Sharma struck 69 off 30 balls, while Kishan contributed 37 before his dismissal triggered a middle-order collapse.
India’s lower order kept the scoreboard moving, taking the total to 223 before the innings ended on the final delivery.
The victory put India ahead in the series with two matches remaining. The teams will meet again in the fourth T20 international in Hyderabad on Wednesday.
