Tokyo: Team Qatar runner Abubaker Abdalla claimed bronze in the men’s 800m at the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 in Japan.
Abubaker produced an impressive performance, completing the race in 1:45.25, a new personal best, to secure his place on the Asian Games podium.
Team Qatar’s Hatem Hameed also competed in the race, finishing sixth in 1:46.41.
Abubaker Abdalla: Proud to Stand on the Podium
Team Qatar runner Abubaker Abdalla expressed his delight after claiming bronze in the men’s 800m.
Abubaker said: “I dedicate this achievement to our wise leadership, to H.E. Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, to the people of Qatar, my family and everyone who supported me on the way to the podium.”
He added: “I was aiming for gold, but the competition was extremely tough. I gave everything I had to reach the podium, and thankfully I succeeded in winning bronze. I am proud to raise Qatar’s flag high at this major Asian sporting event.”
