DOHA : The Qatar Football Association (QFA) has concluded a FIFA seminar on the amateur football environment, bringing together representatives from sports and educational institutions to discuss the development of grassroots football in the country.
The seminar featured presentations from FIFA consultant Belhassen Mellouch and FIFA sports analyst Amr Moheb, who outlined findings from FIFA’s global amateur football report and the QFA’s assessment of amateur football in Qatar.
Mellouch said amateur football serves as the foundation of the sport’s development pyramid and noted that FIFA’s analysis project has been running for nearly three years to help national associations design evidence-based development programmes.
Moheb said the QFA was among the first federations to join FIFA’s Amateur Football Environment Analysis Project, which was launched in 2022 across FIFA’s 211 member associations.
QFA strategic planning consultant Mohammed Abdulrahman Al Hashmi said the seminar reflected growing interest in amateur football and highlighted Qatar’s strong infrastructure and technical capabilities to support further growth in the sector.
He added that the QFA would work with relevant stakeholders to expand participation and strengthen amateur football programmes, noting that 45 football academies had been established in Qatar over the past three years.
Participants reviewed the findings of the analysis of Qatar’s amateur football environment and discussed ways to enhance cooperation among stakeholders to broaden participation and support future development initiatives.
