LONDON : The all-female F1 Academy has revised its calendar by adding races in North America following the cancellation of its Saudi Arabia round.
The series announced on Tuesday that events in Montreal and Austin, Texas will be included, restoring the schedule to 14 races across six rounds in five countries.
Formula One had previously called off April races in Bahrain and Jeddah due to regional tensions involving Iran.
In the revised calendar, Montreal’s Circuit Gilles Villeneuve will host the second round in May, while Austin will stage the fifth round in October.
A new three-race weekend format will be introduced, featuring an “Opening Race”, followed by a reverse-grid race and a feature race. The grid for the opening race will be determined by drivers’ second-fastest qualifying laps, with full points on offer.
Emma Felbermayr, backed by Audi, currently leads the standings after the opening round.
F1 Academy added that updates to its sporting regulations will allow the “Opening Race” format to be used at other events in future, either to maintain consistency in race numbers or to make use of additional track time.
