DOHA: The Wanda Diamond League has confirmed that the upcoming meeting in Doha remains scheduled to take place on May 8, as originally planned. Organizers are continuing preparations while closely monitoring the evolving situation in the region.
Officials from the Diamond League are working in coordination with key stakeholders, including the Qatar Athletics Federation, local authorities in Qatar, and World Athletics. This collaborative approach aims to ensure that all necessary measures are in place to safeguard the well-being of both athletes and spectators.
The safety and security of all participants remain the highest priority. In light of current conditions, organizers are also assessing alternative options should circumstances require adjustments to the event’s planning.
A final decision regarding the status of the meeting will be made no later than one month prior to the scheduled date. Further updates will be communicated as more information becomes available.
With events in 13 different countries across four different continents, the Diamond League is one of the most truly global series in world sport.
In 2025, it welcomed 400,000 spectators to some of the planet’s most iconic arenas and was broadcast on television in 170 different countries. It also reached an online fanbase of five million social media followers worldwide, notching up more than one billion impressions and more than 900 million video views across all platforms.
The 2026 Diamond League season will begin in Doha on May 8 and end at the two-day series final in Brussels on September 4-5.
