DOHA: The Doha 2030 Asian Games Organising Committee has launched a nationwide flag tour, visiting schools, universities and institutions as Qatar steps up preparations to host the continental sporting event in 2030.
The initiative follows Qatar’s official receipt of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) flag during the closing ceremony of the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games in Japan.
The tour has already visited several educational institutions, including Qatar Foundation’s Academyati School, Qatar Academy, the University of Doha for Science and Technology and Qatar University.
Students have had opportunities to see the flag and interact with Qatari athletes, including champions and medal winners, as part of activities designed to inspire younger generations.
Doha 2030 Organising Committee Chief Executive Officer Dr Ahmed Abdullah Al Buainain described the flag’s arrival as an important milestone in preparations for the Games.
He said the initiative aimed to engage communities, particularly young people, and encourage their involvement in the build-up to the event.
The flag will visit more schools, universities and institutions across Qatar in the coming weeks, bringing together students, athletes, teachers and community representatives through interactive activities.
The initiative also seeks to highlight the legacy of the Doha 2006 Asian Games while promoting the values of sport, unity and ambition.
The tour forms part of preparations for Doha 2030 under the slogan “The Games We Live For”
