New Delhi : Chennai Super Kings’ Mahendra Singh Dhoni will miss the opening two weeks of the Indian Premier League season due to a calf strain, the franchise said on Saturday.
“MS Dhoni is currently undergoing rehabilitation for a calf strain. As a result, he is likely to miss the first two weeks of IPL,” Chennai said in a statement.
The 44-year-old wicketkeeper-batter, who stepped down as captain in 2024 after leading Chennai to five titles, has played exclusively in the IPL since retiring from international cricket in 2020.
Dhoni featured in all 14 matches last season, scoring 196 runs, as Chennai finished bottom of the standings.
The five-times champions, who last won the title in 2023, begin their campaign against Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati on Monday.
