DHAKA: Pakistan have been fined 40 per cent of their match fee and penalised eight ICC World Test Championship points after maintaining a slow over-rate during the first Test against Bangladesh in Dhaka.
Match referee Jeff Crowe ruled that Pakistan were eight overs short of the required target after time allowances were considered. Under ICC regulations, players are fined five per cent of their match fee for every over not completed within the allotted time.
As a result, Pakistan also lost eight World Test Championship points, in line with ICC playing conditions that impose a one-point deduction per over short.
Pakistan captain Shan Masood accepted the offence and the proposed sanction, eliminating the need for a formal hearing. The charge was brought forward by on-field umpires Richard Kettleborough and Kumar Dharmasena, along with third umpire Allahuddien Palekar and fourth umpire Gazi Sohel. (ICC)
