Juan Martin del Potro, the 2009 U.S. Open champion, heads the list of player nominees for the 2027 International Tennis Hall of Fame class, alongside former world number ones Ash Barty and Svetlana Kuznetsova.
The Hall announced the nominees on Monday, with fans able to vote through Oct. 25. Their votes will count as bonus points toward the tally of the Official Voting Group, made up of tennis journalists, historians and Hall of Famers.
Del Potro won 22 ATP Tour titles, with his biggest triumph coming at Flushing Meadows in 2009. He beat Rafael Nadal in the semifinals before rallying from two sets to one down to defeat Roger Federer, ending the Swiss player’s bid for a sixth consecutive U.S. Open title.
The Argentine also led his country to its first Davis Cup crown in 2016 and won an Olympic singles silver medal at the Rio Games that year.
Barty won three Grand Slam singles titles and spent 121 weeks at the top of the WTA rankings. She claimed the French Open in 2019, Wimbledon in 2021 and the Australian Open in 2022, and earned a mixed doubles bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics.
Kuznetsova won the U.S. Open in 2004 and the French Open in 2009, as well as Australian Open doubles titles in 2005 and 2012. She collected 18 singles and 16 doubles titles on tour, reaching a career-high ranking of number two in singles and number three in doubles.
Candidates must receive at least 75% of the combined vote from fans and the Official Voting Group to be inducted.
