DOHA — Defending champion Paul Coll advanced to the quarter-finals of the QTerminals Qatar Classic 2026 with a 3-0 victory over Switzerland’s Dimitri Steinmann on Monday.
The world number two won 11-2, 11-4, 11-3 to secure his place in the last eight. Coll will next face France’s Victor Crouin.
Egypt’s Karim Abdel Gawad also progressed in straight games, while Crouin secured his quarter-final place to set up a meeting with Coll.
In the women’s draw, world number two Amina Orfi defeated compatriot Nardine Garas in straight games to reach the quarter-finals.
Orfi will face Egypt’s Fayrouz Abo El Kheir in an all-Egyptian quarter-final, while Britain’s Jasmine Hutton also advanced to the last eight.
The biggest upset of the day came when Malaysia’s Rachel Arnold defeated 2024 champion Nour El Sherbini 3-1 to knock the Egyptian out of the tournament.
After his victory, Coll spoke about his movement and focus during the match, while Orfi reiterated her ambition to reach the world number one ranking after winning the London Classic.
The quarter-final line-up now includes defending champion Coll and several leading contenders, with the tournament continuing in Doha as the men’s and women’s draws move into the last eight.
