MUNICH: FC Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen has said the Bundesliga champions currently have no plans to tour India, but did not rule out the possibility of a future visit, while fondly recalling his own trip to New Delhi more than two decades ago.
Speaking on the sidelines of a media interaction in Munich, Dreesen revealed that Bayern’s immediate focus is on an upcoming pre-season tour of Asia.
“For the moment, the club has plans to travel to Asia, to Korea and Hong Kong.”
When asked about the possibility of FC Bayern visiting India in the near future, Dreesen said there were no immediate plans but left the door open for the future.
“So far we have no plans to visit India, but maybe in the future we would like to plan a visit.”
The comments will be of interest to Bayern’s growing fan base in India, where the German giants enjoy strong support and have regularly engaged with supporters through digital initiatives and football development programmes.
Dreesen also shared a personal connection with India, recalling a memorable visit to the country in 2012.
“Yes, I did visit India in 2012 along with my wife in Delhi and really enjoyed our stay during that time. It was a short visit, but a memorable one.”
While an India tour is not on Bayern Munich’s calendar at present, Dreesen’s remarks suggest the club remains open to exploring opportunities in one of football’s fastest-growing markets in the years ahead.
