LAHORE: Pakistan are reportedly preparing to reinstate Babar Azam as Test captain after the Bangladesh series following the team’s crushing 104-run defeat in the opening Test in Dhaka on Tuesday.
The loss has triggered widespread criticism in Pakistan, with current skipper Shan Masood facing heavy backlash over both his leadership and batting performance after failing in both innings of the match.
According to sources close to the team, discussions are underway to bring Babar back as Test captain for the remainder of the World Test Championship cycle.
Pakistan are still scheduled to play seven more Test matches this year, and selectors are believed to be considering a leadership change in an effort to revive the team’s campaign.
