Doha  : Qatar’s men’s and women’s 3×3 basketball teams are gearing up for the Asian Games “Aichi–Nagoya 2026,” set to take place in Japan from September 19 to October 4. With high ambitions, both teams aim to continue Qatar’s strong presence in Asian basketball and compete for top positions at one of the continent’s premier sporting events.

The 3×3 basketball competitions will run from September 21 to 25, 2026, at the Kinjo Futo Station Square in Nagoya, featuring elite Asian teams. The Qatari squads are determined to make a strong start in the group stage before advancing to the knockout rounds.

Qatar’s men’s team enters the Asian Games with an impressive record, having won the silver medal at the “Hangzhou 2022” Asian Games held in China in 2023. More recently, they captured gold at the 4th Gulf Games “Doha 2026” with a 20–11 victory over Bahrain in the final, and added another gold at the Asian Beach Games “Sanya 2026” after defeating Thailand 21–10. Internationally, Qatar also boasts a historic triumph at the 2014 FIBA 3×3 World Cup in Moscow and the U18 World Cup title in 2016.

Meanwhile, Qatar’s women’s team continues its upward trajectory in 3×3 basketball. They secured a historic bronze medal at the 4th Gulf Games “Doha 2026” with an 11–9 win over Kuwait in the third‑place playoff, marking their first medal in the competition. This achievement provides a strong boost ahead of their Asian challenge in Japan. The team has also been actively participating in international youth competitions, including the FIBA 3×3 Youth Nations League 2026 in Singapore last August, gaining valuable experience against strong opponents.

The participation of both Qatar’s men’s and women’s teams underscores the nation’s commitment to the ongoing development of 3×3 basketball locally and regionally, with the goal of turning past achievements into new successes at “Aichi–Nagoya 2026.”
