Linz, Austria : Top seed Mirra Andreeva fought through a tough three-set contest to defeat Sorana Cirstea 7-6(4), 4-6, 6-2 and advance to the semifinals of the Upper Austria Ladies Linz in Linz.
The 18-year-old fired five aces and capitalized on 5 of 7 break-point opportunities. After dropping the second set, Andreeva responded strongly, winning the opening three games of the decider to take control of the match.
She will next face fellow Romanian Elena-Gabriela Ruse, who staged an impressive comeback to upset fourth seed Jelena Ostapenko 4-6, 6-4, 6-1, striking nine aces along the way.
In the other semifinal, Anastasia Potapova will take on Donna Vekic. Potapova eased past Lilli Tagger 7-6(7), 6-0, while Vekic defeated Karolina Pliskova 7-5, 6-4.
