DOHA: Al Ahli and Al Sadd booked their spots in the semifinals of the Emir Cup basketball competition (2025–2026) after commanding quarterfinal wins on Saturday at Al Gharafa Hall.
Al Ahli defeated Al Wakrah 85–72 in a game defined by defensive intensity and smart transitions. Al Ahli set the tone early, taking the first quarter 18–10. Al Wakrah fought back with a 20–18 second quarter, but Al Ahli pulled away decisively in the third (25–15). Despite Al Wakrah edging the final quarter 27–24, the gap proved too large. Raekwon Deshawn Rogers led Al Ahli with 31 points, while Wesley Mark Alsiger scored 28 for Al Wakrah.
In the second quarterfinal, Al Sadd overcame Al Shamal 107–96 after a stunning second-half comeback. Al Shamal dominated early, winning the first two quarters 24–21 and 28–20. However, Al Sadd flipped the contest with a powerful 38–17 third quarter before closing it out 28–27 in the fourth. Steven Green led Al Sadd with 29 points, while Tyree Quannell Crump top-scored with 39 for Al Shamal.
The quarterfinals continue Sunday, with Al Gharafa facing Al Rayyan, and Al Arabi meeting Qatar Club.
Semifinals are set for May 4, with the final scheduled for May 6. Al Rayyan are the defending champions after beating Al Arabi 77–70 last season.
