CALCUTTA: Hyderabad all-rounder Abhishek Sharma has been handed a demerit point and fined 25 per cent of his match fee after the Indian Premier League sanctioned him following Thursday’s clash against Kolkata.
The opener impressed with the bat, smashing 48 runs off just 21 balls, including four sixes and four boundaries. However, his conduct during the match drew the attention of officials.
While the IPL’s official statement did not detail the exact incident, it confirmed that Abhishek admitted to a Level 1 offence under Article 2.3, which relates to the use of audible obscenities during a match.
The match was won by Hyderabad by 65 runs.
