VALENCIA : Lamine Yamal scored twice as Barcelona maintained their perfect start to the LaLiga season with a 4-2 victory over Levante in Valencia on Sunday.
Xavi Espart and Karim Adeyemi were also on target for Barcelona, who moved three points clear of Real Madrid at the top of the table with five wins from five matches.
Barcelona took the lead after five minutes when a one-touch move ended with 19-year-old Espart firing home from the edge of the box via a deflection for his first senior goal.
They doubled their advantage in the 19th minute when Raphinha controlled Fermin Lopez’s through ball and found an unmarked Yamal in the centre of the box, where the winger finished.
Levante responded with greater pressure and had six attempts to Barcelona’s three by halftime, although they did not create a clear scoring opportunity.
Barcelona defender Gerard Martin was replaced at halftime by Andreas Christensen after appearing to be limping.
Barcelona were awarded a penalty 42 seconds after the restart when Aissa Mandi fouled Yamal. The winger converted from the spot to complete his third LaLiga double in as many matches.
Barcelona’s fourth goal came through Adeyemi as they completed their fifth consecutive league victory.
Levante scored twice but could not prevent Barcelona from extending their winning start to the season.
Barcelona remain top of LaLiga on 15 points, three ahead of Real Madrid.
