DOHA — Doha will host the 2026 World Shooting Championship at the Lusail Shooting Complex from Nov. 1-14, bringing together leading international shooters and Qatar’s national team athletes, organisers said.
The championship is one of the sport’s major global events and will offer 36 direct qualification spots for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games across Skeet, Trap, Rifle and Pistol disciplines.
Qatar’s national team will seek to make the most of home advantage as it targets Olympic quota places, while international competitors will also be bidding for qualification spots at the Lusail venue.
The tournament also highlights Qatar’s growing role in hosting major international sporting events, with its infrastructure and organisational capabilities supporting the championship.
Qatar Shooting and Archery Association (QSAA) Secretary-General Jassim Shaheen Al Sulaiti said the Lusail Shooting Complex was fully prepared from both logistical and technical perspectives.
Al Sulaiti said the championship would provide a major boost to the development of shooting in Qatar and expressed confidence in the national team’s preparations.
Qatar’s shooters have undergone intensive training camps ahead of the event as they look to compete for Olympic qualification on home soil.
