New Delhi: Six city-based franchises unveiled as new T10 league targets emerging and grassroots cricket talent
A new T10 cricket league aimed at providing greater opportunities to emerging and grassroots cricketers was officially launched in Mohali on Monday, with former India wicket keeper and former BCCI Selection Committee chairman Kiran More appointed as its League Commissioner.
The Super T10 League, being promoted by the T10 Cricket India Federation, was unveiled at a press conference at the ITC Hotel in Mohali. The league also announced Indian sportswear and sports equipment brand Shiv-Naresh as its Official Kit Partner.
The organisers believe the short-format league can provide a structured platform for players who may not otherwise get sufficient opportunities to showcase their abilities in a competitive professional environment.
Six city-based franchises have been announced for the league: Mumbai Extreme, Delhi Legends, Bihar Yodhas, Chennai Kings, Bengaluru Thunders and UP Challengers.
Kiran More to oversee cricketing framework
As League Commissioner, Kiran More will be responsible for overseeing the league’s cricketing standards, player interests and administrative framework.
Speaking at the launch, More said the league was designed to address one of the key challenges facing aspiring cricketers—access to structured opportunities.
“India has never been short of cricketing talent. What has often been missing are enough structured platforms where that talent can be identified and given an opportunity to prove itself,” More said.
He added that his focus would be on ensuring that the league’s standards, player interests and administration remain aligned with its larger objective of creating opportunities for emerging players.
The league plans to build its talent pipeline through trials, scouting networks and franchise-level development programmes, with the organisers hoping to create a more organised pathway from grassroots cricket to higher-level competition.

According to the organisers, the Super T10 League will bring emerging players into a competitive environment alongside established names.
Sushil Sharma, Founder, T10 Cricket India Federation, said the league was intended to give talented cricketers more opportunities to demonstrate their ability and gain recognition.
The league’s leadership believes the T10 format, with its shorter matches and fast-paced nature, can also help attract younger audiences and create new opportunities for digital fan engagement.
