DOHA : Qatar continued its strong showing in the shooting competitions at the 4th Gulf Games Doha 2026 on Friday, winning two more gold medals to take its overall tally in the sport to 11 medals.

The Qatari duo of Abdullah Al Sunaidi and Al Maha Al Ali claimed gold in the 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team event after finishing top in the final round.

Oman’s Salem Al Nabhani and Al Anoud Al Khalili took silver, while the United Arab Emirates pair of Fatima Al Suwaidi and Salem Al Yamahi earned bronze.

Qatar secured another gold in the Mixed Team Skeet event through Rashid Saleh Al Athba and Reem Al Sharshani.

Kuwait’s Saud Al Kandari and Afrah Al Mohammad settled for silver, while Bahrain’s Tamar Al Watae and Maryam Al Asam claimed bronze.

The host nation had already collected nine medals on the opening day of the shooting events, including three golds, and now has a total of five gold, one silver and five bronze medals in the competition.

Al Athba said the Gulf Games provided valuable preparation ahead of the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya next year and the ISSF World Championship in Italy next month.

“We concluded the skeet competitions with outstanding results,” Al Athba said after adding mixed team gold to his individual gold and team bronze earlier in the Games.

Al Sharshani said the victory was another significant achievement for Qatari shooting and highlighted the importance of physical, mental and psychological preparation in the sport.

2026 Gulf Games shooting competitions continue on Tuesday with the men’s and women’s trap finals before concluding on Wednesday with the trap mixed team final.
