Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, France : Jannik Sinner underlined his growing dominance by defeating Carlos Alcaraz 7-6(5), 6-3 to win the Monte-Carlo Masters, securing his first major title on clay.
The victory capped a remarkable run for the 24-year-old, who has now claimed the first three Masters titles of 2026 — adding Monte Carlo to his triumphs at Indian Wells Masters and the Miami Open. He becomes the first player since Novak Djokovic in 2015 to achieve the feat.
Sinner’s success was built on careful preparation and tactical adaptability, refining his approach on clay with improved shot selection, variation, and use of drop shots. The win also returns him to the world No. 1 ranking and signals his evolution into a serious contender on all surfaces.
His coach Simone Vagnozzi praised his development, particularly his growing confidence and versatility on clay courts.
Alcaraz, who defeated Sinner in last year’s French Open final, acknowledged his rival’s rapid improvement, warning that the Italian is becoming “really dangerous” on the surface.
With momentum firmly on his side, Sinner now turns his attention to upcoming events in Madrid and Rome as he builds toward the French Open, where he will be among the leading title contenders.
