Chennai : Sanju Samson rediscovered his form in spectacular fashion, smashing an unbeaten 115 to lead Chennai Super Kings to a 23-run victory over Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League.
After a slow start to the season following his move from Rajasthan Royals, Samson delivered a captain’s knock, striking 15 fours and four sixes in his 56-ball innings — his fourth IPL century.
He was well supported by 18-year-old Ayush Mhatre, who scored 59 off 36 balls before being retired out, helping Chennai post a formidable 212/2.
In reply, Delhi managed 189, falling short despite their efforts, as Chennai secured their first win of the campaign. The victory also came in the absence of injured former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Samson admitted recent failures had shaken his confidence but emphasized a return to basics as the key to his turnaround.
Despite the win, Chennai remain ninth in the standings with two points from four matches, while Delhi sit fourth with four points after their second loss of the season.
