DOHA: The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has announced the list of referees appointed to officiate matches at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will kick off next June and be hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The tournament will feature an expanded format with 48 national teams participating for the first time in its history.
The list includes a notable Qatari presence, with the selection of a Qatari officiating team—marking renewed international confidence in Qatari refereeing expertise and its ability to manage major global tournaments with professionalism and excellence.
The team includes Abdulrahman Al-Jassim as the main referee, alongside assistants Saud Ahmed and Taleb Salem Al Marri. Khamis Al Marri has been appointed as a Video Assistant Referee (VAR).
This selection reflects the advanced standing of Qatari refereeing on the international stage, particularly following successful participation in continental and global competitions in recent years, which has helped refine the experience of Qatari officials and strengthen their presence at major events.
