LAUSANNE: FIFA has announced the full roster of match officials selected for the FIFA World Cup 2026™, marking the largest and most diverse group in the tournament’s history.
A total of 52 referees, 88 assistant referees, and 30 video match officials have been chosen, representing all six confederations and 50 Member Associations worldwide.
The selection follows a rigorous three-year evaluation process focused on performance quality and consistency at the highest levels of the game. Officials were assessed based on their work in FIFA tournaments as well as domestic and international competitions.
This elite group, known as FIFA Team One, has been assembled to meet the demands of a historic tournament featuring 104 matches across three host countries.
Pierluigi Collina, FIFA’s Chief Refereeing Officer and chairman of the FIFA Referees Committee, emphasized the depth of the selection process, noting that candidates were closely monitored, trained through seminars, and supported by fitness, medical, and mental health professionals.
He added that preparations will continue to ensure all officials are in peak condition ahead of their arrival in Miami on 31 May.
