DOHA: Al Duhail coach Djamel Belmadi said his team are determined to salvage their season by winning the Emir Cup as they prepare to face Al Sadd in the semifinals.
“We will face a good and strong team that has won many titles and there is an ambition to reach the final in this wonderful and important tournament,” Belmadi told a pre-match press conference.
“I expect it to be a tough and difficult match. This is the only competition left for us this season. In the continental championship, we were close to beating the title holder. We lost the league for many reasons. Now we have this opportunity in this wonderful cup, the Emir Cup,” he added.
Belmadi stressed the importance of the competition for the club, players and supporters.
“We want to win the Emir Cup for this club, and also for the players and fans. We want to win again. We are playing against a strong team that has performed well this season,” he said.
“This tournament is very valuable because it is not easy to win this cup. In order to win it, we must go through strong teams. Against Al Sadd, we will give our all, and the players want to win this cup,” he added.
