DOHA: Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science, and Community Development, crowned the winners of the Grand Prix show jumping event at the conclusion of the 12th Al Shaqab International Equestrian Championship by Longines.

The prestigious event, held at the Longines Arena in Al Shaqab, attracted an elite lineup of 247 riders and 445 horses from 41 countries, competing over three days for a total prize pool exceeding €1.4 million.

The championship drew a distinguished audience, including high-profile dignitaries and passionate equestrian fans.

In the highlight event—the five-star Grand Prix show jumping competition—Sweden’s Malin Baryard-Johnsson clinched victory with an impressive time of 35.21 seconds aboard Indiana in the jump-off round at a height of 160 cm. Germany’s Jan Fredrik Meyer Zimmermann secured second place, while Italy’s Emanuele Gaudiano finished third.

The dressage Grand Prix (freestyle) saw Poland’s Sandra Sysojeva claim top honors with a score of 81.740 points.

Dutch rider Hans Peter Minderhoud took second place with 79.190 points, followed closely by Sweden’s Patrik Kittel in third with 78.895 points.

Following the competition, the tournament’s organizing committee held a press conference, where Tournament Director Mohammed bin Jaber Al-Khayareen highlighted the event’s success across show jumping, dressage, and para-dressage. He emphasized Al Shaqab’s reputation as a premier equestrian hub, reinforcing Qatar’s status as one of only five nations to host this prestigious championship annually, alongside Estonia, Germany, Switzerland, and the Netherlands.

The 2025 Al Shaqab International Equestrian Championship once again showcased world-class talent and reaffirmed Qatar’s standing as a global destination for equestrian excellence.
